Stripping was a very invasive method of surgically removing the abnormal veins. This method is now rarely performed.
Operate varicose veins
The most common treatment to date has been the surgical removal of the abnormal veins by “crossectomy and stripping.” In this procedure, an incision is made in the groin and the veins are dissected. The affected vein is threaded with the help of a wire and removed from the tissue. This invasive method is now only very rarely necessary.
