Phlebectomy
Phlebectomy, also called the hook method, is a gentle minimally invasive procedure for removing varicose veins from the side branches of the truncal vein.
Phlebectomy (hook method)
If the great saphenous vein or the small saphenous vein become diseased, the side branches of these veins also become diseased. The tortuous vein strands can usually be seen and felt on the upper and lower leg.
These side branches are removed via a procedure called phlebectomy.
Phlebectomy – Definition: What is a phlebectomy?
Phlebectomy is a minimally invasive procedure to remove varicose veins from the side branches of the truncal vein. The treatment is performed under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. With the help of a special hook, the diseased section of vein is carefully pulled out. This method is therefore also known as the hook method. The cuts for this are 2-3mm in size.
